🏆 CHAMPION 🏆 Series – Post 1 of 7: CHallenge 💪
What is the CHAMPION framework? CHAMPION is a structured approach designed to align your team's energy with your company's mission, vision, and goals. It bridges the gap between your employees' potential and your business objectives, unlocking greater engagement, collaboration, and productivity.
In this first post, let's dive into Challenge, the "CH" in CHAMPION.
Growth demands that teams step out of their comfort zones. Each person should be positioned to add the most value possible, contributing to shared objectives across the team, department, and company. But challenging people the right way is essential to avoid burnout, disengagement, or stress.
There are two main approaches to challenging teams:
👨⚖️ Direct Challenges: This involves setting explicit instructions on what needs to be achieved. For example, you might instruct a sales representative, "Increase your sales by 25% by following these steps." While this approach is straightforward, it can feel authoritarian and potentially stress-inducing if the target seems unrealistic. Over time, these pressures can lead to dissatisfaction or attrition.
🙋♂️ Collaborative Challenges: A more effective approach is to involve employees in solution-finding. Instead of instructing your sales rep, you might ask, "How do you think we can increase sales by 25%?" By inviting input, you not only leverage their unique insights but foster a sense of ownership and connection to the goal. This simple shift from telling to asking can ignite motivation, creativity, and loyalty.
Imagine providing context to that sales goal by saying, "We're expanding to become a market leader, and to get there, we need a 25% sales increase. How can we achieve that?" This invites your employee to think strategically, aligns their ideas with your goals, and makes them feel valued.
